Michael Beckwith - The Aware Show Interview

I was listening to "The Aware Show" the other day, a conscious radio program that airs here in Los Angeles and online, and Michael Beckwith from The Secret and from Agape Inernational Spiritual Center was being interviewed by Lisa Garr. The interview was so powerful that I transcribed part of it so that I could share it with you. In the inerview, he talks about The Life Visioning Process - an audio program he created where he leads you through a complete Life Visioning session that allows you to intuit “God’s idea of itself as your life.” - a tool you can return to any time as a basis for discovering and unleashing the ultimate potential for your life."

Here it is :

Michael Bernard Beckwith – The Aware Show, Sept 16, 2009

"Choice is a function of awareness. The average individual is not choosing their life, they’re reacting to circumstances and to hidden, unconscious, and societal beliefs. As an individual begins to pray, meditate and grow spiritually, they become aware that they can make choices above and beyond what’s influencing them or trying to influence them

Dr Martin Luther King story – at an event, a man spit on him. he didn’t’ react. He wiped off the spit with a hanky and gave it back to man and said “I believe this belongs to you”. He could have reacted. He had an expanded awareness of love, peace, justice, good will. He was able to choose from a higher level rather than react from the base level. The average individual is reacting to circumstances rather than choosing to respond from the deeper dimension of their being. That choice can only happen from expanded awareness. Choice is a function of awareness. Reaction is a function of unconsciousness or lack of awareness. It’s a very juvenile way of being in the world. There is a higher way of being in the world.

There is a difference between a goal and a way of being. The purpose of a goal is not to merely achieve what you’re trying to go after but it's about what happens to you in the process of going after the goal. Your soul evolves, you learn lessons, and you open yourself up to gifts and talents and potentials within you that if you haven’t moved in that direction would not be activated.

There are 3 kinds of people : Task-Oriented, Goal-Oriented, Purposeful-Oriented Individuals

Task-Oriented Individuals – have no goals, they're just moving through life, reacting to circumstances, not really moving forward in any way

Goal–Oriented Individuals - has goals in their life. people achieve their goals, but they're still not happy, there is still an incompleteness if your soul has not evolved

Purposeful Individuals – know they are here to activate their highest potential and express it.

Goal is one of the ways in which you become more yourself – what’s most important is what did I become in this process rather than the goal itself. We’re here to become something. It's about no longer reacting from the template of our society that tells you your here to become merely a consumer, with acquisitions, living up to the high standards of our society. In a Wisdom Society, you’re really here to evolve your soul. It’s what you become that’s most important.

There's the expression whatever the mind can conceive it can achieve. But you have to surrender. It’s not that the two are a contradiction. These are just different stages of consciousness.

The 1st stage is the Victim Stage, people think that something outside of them is determining their destiny

The 2nd Stage is the Manifestor Stage. It's where you grow and take more responsibility for your life. You learn how to manifest

The 3rd Stage is the Channel Stage. You become an opening for a higher power to go through you. You surrender

The 4th is the State of Being where you feel at one with it

These are not contradictions. They are just differnt stages of development.

Visualization is one stage, …Visioning is the next...visioning is more than just wanting thing. it's making yourself available to the highest potential within you that wants to emerge; it allows you to go further into the unfoldment of your soul. It's a participation in the transformation of your life and opening yourself up to the next stage of your evolution. To be guided by the presence that is able to dictate your next stage of being.

What happens when you have challenges?

Every delay is not a denial. The universe is friendly and never denies you anything. If there is a delay, a challenge or a crisis, it means there is something within you that is trying to emerge, something trying to be birthed in you, something that needs to be cultivated. Instead of fighting it, you have to ask a different set of questions:

What is trying to happen in me? What gift is trying to emerge? What quality do I need to cultivate in order to move forward. If you listen sincerely, you begin to get hints and inner guidance as to what needs to be cultivated. Once you begin to put your focus on that, then movement takes place. There’s not withhold or denial with the universe. The spirit is always giving of itself. It’s about asking the right questions so we can begin to be available.

The "No Worry" Diet :

First ingredient : "Notso ball soup" – Where you say to yourself “Not So!”. You keep the negative out of your mind. Whenever negativity arises, you have to say “Not So!” “This is Not So!”, news, media, rumors, gossip, etc

Second ingredient : "Cheerios" – create a circle in your mind, you zero it out, circling out the negativity, not allowing it to enter into your space. “O O O, Gotta Go!” Circle out the negativity.

“Worrying is like paying interest on money you haven’t borrowed” It’s like mentally rehearsing the very things you don’t want to happen until your nervous system gets acclimated to it and allows it to come into manifestation

Third Ingredient : "Grateful Fruit" – Every day find something to be grateful for. All of Nature is in gratitude for simply being alive. Human beings are grateful for certain things. Sometimes they’ll postpone their gratitude for an anniversary or celebration etc. Nature is grateful for just being

1. Find something to be grateful for – your family, that you have a roof over head, your ability to walk, breathing

2. Become grateful for the challenges. You become grateful for the things that don’t seem to be working in your life. Since we know that we live in a progressive universe, a universe that is always becoming more to reveal more of its infinite nature, everything is working together for our good. Even the negative. If you become grateful for these things, You learn your lessons faster and receive your blessings quicker

3. You mature. Find yourself in a field of gratitude for no reason whatsoever. You’ve come back to your natural state of being. The universe will begin to give you more things to be grateful for because you’ve become the condition for more things to be grateful for. You’ve made yourself available for grace. Grace can’t be earned but you can create the condition for it. Grace is the givenness and the givingness of the spirit . Gratitude is one of the conditions for grace to take over your life.

1. Sympathy – is saying "I know how you feel" (you get into the mud with the individuals)

2. Empathy – is saying "I feel for you"

3. Compassion – is saying "How can I serve?" That is why we are here. Serving the next level of an expanding paradigm. You don’t want to save. You want to serve. Alleviating suffering according to your gift or talent. Using it for the betterment of all.

The gifts and talents you have do not belong to you. They belong to the community. You’re here to give it to the betterment of the community. You have a responsibility to protect, cultivate, and share that gift. We all have something to give.

In business, the old paradigm was that business is profit-driven. The new paradigm is that business is to bring something into someone’s hand that's valuable. it’s for service.

Life Visioning Process – Questions

We are here to participate in the evolution of our soul. Health, prosperity etc is a foundation, not an end game but a beginning game.

Foundation – were living and moving in field of love. Remember a moment in your life when you have felt the field of unconditional love. Once that field is established and you’re sitting in that field of unconditional love. Then ask : What is God’s idea of itself as my life? Become reverentially alert, receptive, and you’ll begin to catch a vision or a feeling of how the universal presence sees you. What is it that’s seeking to emerge in my life right now? What is the next step in my evolution? How does the universe see the next step for this project? Helps you come out of victimhood. Listening is very important in this process when you’re asking these questions. Practice deep heart-felt listening. Your listening as if someone is about to tell you the biggest secret in the world. With a spiritual ear.

1. What is the vision? – What Is trying to emerge through me?

2. What do I need to become in order to manifest this vision?

You cannot have what you’re not willing to become in consciousness. The Beach Ball theory. If you try to hold a beach ball under water it bounces back up. If you’re trying to get something in your life but you haven’t matched it emotionally, mentally, spiritually, if you haven’t become it in consciousness. Once something belongs to you by right of consciousness, it will come back to you. If someone steals your car, it will come back to you if you have the consciousness of a car. Insurance will give it back to you etc. What must I become? When you work on becoming that then the vision manifests. The rosebush is already within the seed. How can I be the right condition for the emergence of the vision? What gifts, talents, skills that I already have can serve the vision? “To he or she who has, more shall be given”. Enter into a “having” consciousness rather than a “poor me” consciousness. What do I need to let go of in order to manifest the condition. We speak our world into existence with our word. What must I release?

3. What do I need to let go of? Old habits or judgements

4. What gifts and talents do I already have

5. Willingness – say yes. Be willing to.

We think about the vision, what we must become, the gifts that we have that can serve the vision, what we must let go of, are we willing? Find that place within you that’s willing and then amplify that YES.

Guided Meditation:

Think of a time in your life when you were totally loved and breathe into that awareness. Then ask, What is God’s idea of itself as my life? What is trying to emerge right now as the next stage of my growth and evolution? What must I become for this to take place? What gifts talents and capacities do I already have that can be in service to this vision that wants to live through me? What must I become for this to happen? Listen with your whole being. Feel. What must I let go of in order for this vision to manifest? What perceptions, habits, beliefs must I let go of in order for the best of me to emerge? Am I willing? Find a place within you where you say Yes from. Where you give the affirmative nod. The vital nerve center of your consent. As you contemplate the vision that you feel now. The gift you already have what you must let go of within the context of what you must become. Say YES I CAN. YES I AM. YES I WILL. YES I AM ABLE. Take a deep breathe and amplify willingness. Where there is a will there is a wall, where there is willingness there is a way. In this space of willingness right now, knowing that where you are the full presence of the universal one is and that divine right action is taking place in your life right now and anything that would hinder the unfoldment of your soul or your vision from manifesting and the next stage from emerging is now dissolved and has no power here. You are now becoming more of your true self, with more healthy harmony, prosperity, abundance and more creativity. i am receptive to a vision that wants to have it’s way with me. I give thanks for this right now I feel good about it and I let it be now unto forever more and so it is and so I let it be.

The "feeling as if you already have it" concept :

Your nervous system begins to acclimate itself to that feeling tone of already having it and so you become the right condition for that or something better to manifest. People have acclimated themselves to worry and doubt and fear so they’re blocking their immune system, their creativity. When you walk in the feeling tone that YOU ALREADY HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED, the universe supplies that based on what vibrates its match. We have to have a PRACTICE, not just a lot of information gathering.

How do I get through these times?

You have to create a gap between the thoughts and emotions about how difficult it is and how hard it is and how you don’t have anything. Emotions are a subset of your perceptions. When someone is caught up emotionally it’s difficult to get out. You must create a gap between those thoughts and emotions so you can feel your way back to yourself and think clearly

Go forth and multiply the consciousness of the all good and anchor the abundance, joy, and happiness on earth as it is in the mind of the universal one that’s within you. I've seen people with nothing turn their lives around, with disease, bad relationships, no money. "all things ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive"

From Ambition to Meaning

These are wonderful quotes taken from wayne dyer's "the shift" and eckhart tolle...

"Thoroughly unprepared we take the step into the afternoon of life; worse still, we take this step with the false assumption that our truths and ideals will serve us heretofore. But we cannot live the afternoon of life according to the programme of life's morning; for what was great in the morning will be little at evening, and what in the morning was true will at evening become a lie" - Carl Jung

"If you want to become self-actualized and live a life of meaning, the first thing you have to do is become independent from the good opinions of others and the second thing you have to do is detach yourself from the outcome." - Abraham Maslow

"Fear arises through identification with form, whether it be a material possession, a physical body, a social role, a self-image, a thought, or an emotion. It arises through unawareness of the formless inner dimension of consciousness or spirit, which is the essence of who you are. You are trapped in object consciousness, unaware of the dimension of inner space which alone is true freedom." - Eckhart Tolle

Living in The Now

I love this poem. It's a great reminder to live in the here and now. We have a tendency to delay our happiness until something happens rather than be happy where we are right now...

"The Station" by Robert Hastings

“When we reach the station, that will be it!”, we cry. “When I’m 18.” “When I buy a new SL Mercedes Benz!” “When I put the last kid through college.” “When I have paid off the mortgage!” “When I get a promotion.” “When I reach the age of retirement, I shall live happily ever after!”

Sooner or later, we must realize there is not station, no one place to arrive at once and for all. The true joy of life is the trip. The station is only a dream. It constantly outdistances us.

“Relish in the moment” is a good motto especially when coupled with Psalm 118:24: “This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” It isn’t the burdens of today that drive men mad. It is the regrets over yesterday and the fear of tomorrow. Regret and fear are twin thieves who rob us of today.

So stop pacing the aisles and counting the miles. Instead, climb more mountains, eat more ice cream, go barefoot more often, swim more rivers, watch more sunsets, laugh more, cry less. Life must be lived as we go along. The station will come soon enough

Beyond The Secret

I went to the premiere a couple of weeks ago and it really impacted me. I personally loved the movie "The Secret". I have been practicing the law of attraction since I was 7 years old when my mom introduced me to the New Thought Movement. We always had books lying around the house from authors such as Louise Hay(You Can Heal Your Life), Deepak Chopra(7 Spiritual Laws of Success), Shakti Gawain(Creative Visualization), Richard Bach(Illusions), Ken Keyes(Handbook to Higher Consciousness), Stuart Wilde(Miracles), and many other spiritual teachers. My mom taught me how to create a visualization book as a kid. It was really fun. We would sit around the house with my brother and sister and my mom's best friend Susie along with her kids and cut out pictures and words from magazines and paste them into our 3 ring binders which became our vision books, mapping out what we wanted to create in our lives. Another thing we did once a year around New Years Eve sitting by the fireplace was made 2 lists. One was a list of the things we wanted to RELEASE in our lives, whatever wasn't working for us, and then we'd burn each statement into the fire to release it. Then we'd make another list, which was a list of what we wanted to CREATE for the coming year. We would word those statements in the present tense as if they were already true. It was a very powerful exercise to do and fun to pull out our lists the following year to see what we had manifested. The power of visualization and the power of thought are ideas my mom has instilled in me very early on. It's how I attraced my relationships, jobs, places of residence, and many other circumstances that I've wanted to create throughout my life. Beyond The Secret is a movie that lights a fire under you. Many times people walk away from seminars and teachings left with only theories about how to change their lives. This movie actually gives you that push to DO IT. It is truly a gift.

Let me know what you think of the film. I would love to start a discussion group...
